Microfiber Towel
Cost: $15-30 (depending on size)

This little beauty is a wonder of water-wicking science and a best friend to travelers everywhere. Normal towels work by wiping the water away, with this type of towel you don’t wipe, you gently pat. A towel the size of a placemat can absorb enough water to easily dry your body, and if it’s not too long, your hair as well.

I travel with a 12in x 24in microfiber towel, it folds up to be only a little larger than a dollar bill. I can stick it in a pocket or bag or just about anywhere. On really hot days, it doubles as a great way to cool off – just soak it in water and lay it across the back of your neck. Let’s see a hairdryer do that!
