I’m not going to lie. I am very excited right now. Why? Because World Next Door is hiring again!

This time, we’re looking for a full-time Office Manager. This person is going to handle all of the day-to-day administrative tasks necessary to keep our organization afloat.

Finances, travel admin, event planning, donor tracking, internship admin… You name it.

We’re going to need someone who absolutely loves the little details, but who can also think big-picture. We need someone who is very flexible, but also dedicated to excellence. We need someone who actually gets energized by checking things off a to-do list.

This past weekend I had the privilege of giving a sermon on the topic of systemic injustice at my home church, Grace Community Church in Noblesville, Indiana.

In many ways it was an ideal environment to share some of what I’ve been learning while writing and traveling for World Next Door, and it should come as no surprise that several stories and ideas from my travels found their way into the message.

6 broken places – My church is doing a series on the “Six Broken Places” of our world and I was asked to cover the issue of systemic injustice.

The feedback I’ve received has been incredibly positive, and I’ve been thrilled to hear stories of people who are choosing to take some initial steps of faith in caring for the poor and marginalized.

If you haven’t heard me talk about it before, my church is awesome. We have a very active congregation that is involved and serving all over the world.

This month, in fact, the church is taking the “Hunger Challenge,” where we commit to eating only rice and beans for a week, living on the equivalent of food stamps for a week, coming together to collect thousands of pounds of food for local pantries and partnering with Kids Against Hunger to pack thousands of food packs bound for Haiti.

With all of that in mind, it was a real honor to get up in front and help fan the flames a bit!

It’s official! The 2013 World Next Door summer internship will be in Phnom Penh and Battambang, Cambodia. We are pumped.

I first visited Cambodia for WND back in the fall of 2010. Since that time, our partner ministry, the Center for Global Impact has grown tremendously. We’ve seen our readers go on to get involved with them in a lot of very cool ways.

Some of the wonderful children we’ll be interacting with in Phnom Penh.

And now we have one of the coolest opportunities for engagement yet… our summer internship!

In June of 2013, we will take 3-4 young, passionate leaders with strong writing gifts deep into the heart of Cambodia for two months. There they will interact with CGI, discover the difficult truths surrounding sex trafficking and help us get our suburban American readers involved!

It is going to be a fantastic summer…
