Founded by Pastor Esperandieu Pierre in 2006, Nehemiah Vision Ministries’ vision is to see individuals brought from darkness to light and from hopelessness to eternal life. Their work consists of four “pillars,” all supported by a foundation of Spiritual Development. These pillars are Education, Healthcare, Leadership Development, and Economic Empowerment.

NVM’s school and afternoon classes provide education for children and young adults. Several of their students have gone on to test among the highest in the nation.

A permanent campus clinic as well as hosted mobile medical teams embody NVM’s desire to care for the physical needs of Haitians. Their malnutrition program has saved the lives of dozens of children who had been left too weak to eat traditional foods. NVM is also working to build a full-scale health center with enlarged capacity, surgery, birthing room, and dental facilities.

Leadership Development

School mentors, an after-school Christian youth club, and a pastoral training program all contribute to building future leaders with the skills and integrity to help Haiti succeed.

Economic Empowerment

The NVM store supports local artisans and provides materials and training for mothers to make woven cord baskets to support their family. Additionally, a micro-farm project has begun to provide local communities with a sustainable source of income and a new path to economic independence.

Spiritual Development

The foundation of everything they do, NVM’s focus on spiritual development is demonstrated in the teachings of their school, the compassion of their healthcare, the philosophy of their leadership development, and the dignity and relational nature of their economic empowerment. But nowhere is it seen more clearly than their on-site church and weekend services.

Brad, thank you for reminding us about NVM. It was great running into you there in April. I hope your readers will take a minute and follow the links in the article above.

NVM is truly a special place. Another initiative at NVM that is life changing is the child sponsorship program. There are so many children that need sponsors, it is so simple and worth while to get involved, I pray that someone looking at this short intro to NVM will feel called to come alongside of NVM and sponsor one of the many beautiful children there.

I know other readers will chime in here and add to the story taking place at Nehemiah Vision Ministries.
