India. What an incredible place.  Home to so much life, so much culture and so much injustice…

During my short, two and a half week stay in New Delhi this fall, I had the opportunity to embed once again with Truthseekers International.  Sitting at the feet of Christ-following social reformers like Sunil Sardar gave me a rare glimpse into this unique and powerful expression of the kingdom of God.

I can never forget the things I learned here!

I witnessed everything from gypsy children being given an education to outcaste farmers having their feet washed by Westerners.  I stayed for a while in an impoverished New Delhi neighborhood and spent the night in a rural village.

Everywhere I went I saw the kingdom of God at work.  The poor lifted up, the powerless given a voice and outcasts bestowed with dignity… Truthseekers is beating back the darkness with the most powerful weapon of all: hope!

This has been a very compelling series Barry.

Telling about the efforts of organizations like Truthseekers International to bring the love of Christ to the poor and marginalized in India is fascinating.

Reading about people who for the first time may see themselves as image bearers of God, and for a moment know and feel that there is a wellspring of deep abiding Love in Him… gives me the same feeling I get when I see a bright shooting star on a dark night, that “wow how amazing was that” feeling.

Telling us about the caste system, and helping us see something so seemingly crazy from the “bottom up” should stir us all to feel more than a little discomfort. It also leaves us hanging with a lot of unanswered questions and heart break.

Reading about a man like Sunil shows us a real time example of one man being used by God to lead people out out of darkness one small village, one person, one lunch table at a time, and it should give us all Hope. It should on some level also stir in us the question, what is God asking of me?

Thank you, and safe travels as you move on to your next garden.
