I’m glad the pictures gave you a glimpse of the hope that is here in Kager. The challenges the students face really are tremendous, and I plan to do another story soon to go deeper into these issues. I do know that because of JVP’s partnership, this school is much more affordable than other ones.

Linn has an incredible story and heart for cross-cultural ministry. She’s been to Kenya before through church connections, and last year when she was here, she incorporated a one-day trip to Kager. The people here stole her hearts! After that, she joined JVP as a partner and is helping with several projects. Makes me want to jump on a plane and join in! (I am a retired teacher, so I guess it’s in my blood.) Yes, may God empower someone(s) to encourage them with supplies…

Jess – The closing line, “The dream has come true” moved me to tears. I was touched by how badly these precious parents want their kids to get an education, and so impressed with how JVP is helping this small town stand on it’s own two feet by jobbing out the making of school uniforms to a local seamstress. Hope is growing and can’t help but become contagious.

It’s difficult to understand what school in general must be like in Kager. What it costs per student, how many students 9-12 grade attend, what is taught, where the teachers come from, and so on. It looks like what I imagine a prairie school was when this country was being settled.

The next steps links below the photos were helpful, I always forget to click on them…I’m usually so blown away by the photos by the bottom of the article that I miss them.

Jess, thanks for the “pictures worth thousands of words” start to my day today. You, the students, and teachers in Kager will be in my prayers today. As I drive to work this morning I will pass the local HS where over 4000 students are learning, and a football stadium where the cost of one game would probably fund Kegar’s education effort for several years.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if a local school here would adopt the school in Kegar for the next four years.

On second thought, perhaps I should pray for us here at home, that God would awaken in the hearts of our community the desire to lend a hand to what we see here in your photos.
