Barry,

I had a fun time showing Bernardo and Nidia their pictures from Llano Ñopo, as well as teaching them to do a google search. For both of them, it was their first time in an internet cafe, so they were very hesitant in typing themselves, but this is a rough translation of what they wrote:

Greetings to young Barry who we've met in our community amongst various families. I'm so happy that he was with me in my community of Llano Ñopo. He spoke English, and I Ngäbere, and all the while, we both spoke with our hands. He was happy and then sad because I saw that he felt lonely, but then he received many visits. All my family visited him and asked him questions and spoke to him in Spanish. He spoke to them in Spanish, but slowly. From that moment, I understood the confusion of God at the tower of Babel. That is the greatness of the Lord.

Many thanks to the young Barry Rodriguéz, and that Jesus accompanies every day.

Bernardo Salinas and Nidia Miranda

I hope so, too, Barry in your time in Haiti.

Barry, we're spending some time catching up with the WND blog. I love how you select the images to go so perfectly with your dialogue. It just adds even more to the impact. This post has us thinking about how much food we have in our pantry and yet I'll go to the store "because we have nothing to eat." Way to make us all think!

So amazing the basic luxuries we take for granted, isn't it? Thanks for another great article. This is nothing compared to the harvesting of rice, but I have started roasting my own coffee by hand, and have found a new appreciation for people without gas stoves, and the work that it took to hull the cherries before they got to me. It's nuts how much work that one cup of coffee takes. Thanks for opening our eyes Barry!

Barry, the color in your photos is so vibrant! I'm kind of glad I'm not there, because I would cancel out any color with my lack thereof.
