My name is Mulu and Martha Mude is my aunt and i love the work that she has done and am very proud of her. I live in Nairobi but i have family back there. The problems in Marsabit is constantly on my mind especially the challenges facing the girl child. There is a need to empower the women and promote that self dignity to help them see themselves not just good enough for producing babies but as agents of change.
I have recently talked to my sister about doing something for our community back home and your story has encouraged me so much and now i can take that bold step of making a difference in someone's life. THANK YOU1

Thank you, thank you Jessica. The closest I can get to what Barwaaqo and her siblings and neighbors experience is being hungry at the end of a long day after working in a dry and dusty cornfield....and I know how good it feels to get a shower and a good meal. And still how vast the gap between my "experience" of a good, hard day at work and the routinely painful experience of daily life for Barwaaqo's family. Jessica, how good it must feel to watch the smiles and laughter slowly emerge as love and trust and hope develop thru water and your hands. Your pictures are great too! I surely don't know what jiggers look like - but it is enough to see the color of the water, hear that walking is painful, and the kiddos can't go to school. But... then see the precious smile of hope and transformation in Barwaaqo's face....ahhhhhhhh.

I love it that you call 'home' someplace in Kenya. You are helping and watching God change lives. Blessings to you.

Not much wrecks me more than images of a good foot-washing. Wow. Loved this, Jessica. Thank you for serving Him and washing His feet through those precious people!

What a privilege to be able to bring healing and hope to Barwaaqo and her family! Thank you for helping me understand all the ramifications of not having sufficient water, and how we can help our brothers and sisters recover from such devastating circumstances. Praise God for rain at last and for the provisions that He is sending through Martha, Karura chapel and hopefully many of us.
