Great gallery. Their perseverance and positivity is inspiring, especially Naomi's story. My favorite caption I read was when she said: "This does not make me question God’s faithfulness at all...This is just another opportunity for God to manifest his glory.” Wow!

My dear Jess, Having just returned from time with 2 of the girls, extended families, numbering 19 to 20 folks -all of us comfortably sleeping in this huge lake house, I am just blown away to see this view that you are experiencing. I am like your dad, what is the best way to help them is the ? that is just staying in my mind. thank you for showing and telling how it is. God bless you, grandma Mack

After looking thorugh these pics and your comments... days later... I'm still haunted, bothered and amazed.

I wonder what would happen if the beaurocrats who set that demolition in motion would read your post. Would they be moved? Shrug their shoulders? Agonize?

And as for me...do I have the faith to sustain the loss of all things material in my life? Hope it never happens but it makes me wonder.

Jess, wonderful, on the spot, in real time reporting ! thank you!

Amazing. The less they have I guess the less they have to worry about. Life is simpler. Is helping them find permanent land then basic building material a realistic solution?

Jess---Brilliant stuff. Well told. The picture of the lady with the keys on her head is burned in my mind. What a picture of hope and perseverance. She will wear her keys to the door of her new house, yet to be built! Inspiring! I can remember seeing white X's throughout Korogocho slum when I was there in March 1994. Everyone was wondering if and when the bulldozers were going to come. To actually see it happen is sobering.
